The 2025 SAfA Meeting will take place at the Penha Campus of the University of Algarve (www.ualg.pt), in Faro, Portugal.
Founded in 1979, the University of Algarve (UAlg) is a prominent institution of higher education and research in southern Portugal. With multiple campuses and a growing international profile, UAlg offers a wide range of academic programmes, including 44 undergraduate degrees and 75 postgraduate courses across Master’s and Doctoral levels. Organisation of the SAfA 2025 meeting is being coordinated by the Interdisciplinary Center for Archaeology and the Evolution of Human Behaviour (ICArEHB). Based at UAlg, ICArEHB brings together more than 100 researchers and doctoral students dedicated to investigating the ecological, biological, and cultural dynamics of human evolution. Following its top-tier evaluation by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology in 2019, ICArEHB has emerged as a leading research centre in European archaeological science, with a global impact on the study of modern human origins and behaviour.
